Mineola Memorial Library's FALL Read-a-thon

Mineola Memorial Library has organized a 24 hour read-a-thon fundraiser in efforts to raise money needed for Tutor.com  Tutor.com is an online tutoring service that assists students of all ages with homework.  The event begins at 6:00am, Saturday morning, October 22, and will continue through 6:00am, Sunday morning, October 23.

Participants will collect donations and recruit sponsors to pledge amounts for every hour they read at the library during the 24 hour period.   It isn't required to stay for the entire event, but credit will be given only for the hours read at the library.  Listening to audio books, also counts as reading.  Snacks and drinks will be provided during the event and pizza, courtesy of Pizza Hut, will be served as a midnight treat.

Every hour throughout the event there will be online challenges and door prizes to keep the readers going.  Top fundraisers are eligible for special prizes which include an ipod Classic, Wal-mart gift card and movie passes. The cut-off for collecting and soliciting funds is Oct. 28, and winners will be announced on October 29.
